“Gun deaths in the US reach the highest level in nearly 40 years, CDC data reveal”

Summary-  About 40,000 civilians died by a gun last year, that’s was the highest number in decades. The data came from Centers for disease and prevention WONDER’S database. CNN Recreated the analysis and found that 39,773 people died by guns in 2017. That was an increase of more than 10,000 deaths in 1999, also CNN did another analysis showing that only 23,854 people died from suicide by guns in 2017, the highest number in 18 years. while in 1999 there were only 16,599 suicide deaths, That’s a difference of more than 7,000 deaths comparison

In 2017, the age-adjusted rate of suicide deaths by firearm was highest among white men at 14 per 100,000 — Compared with:

  • 2.2 among white women
  • 6.1 among black men
  • 0.7 among black women
  • 3.0 among Asian men
  • 0.5 among Asian women
  • 9.3 among American Indian or Alaska Native men

Significance- Gun violence is a leading cause of premature death in the U.S. Guns kill more than 38,000 people and cause nearly 85,000 injuries each year

“Sears, the store that changed America, declares bankruptcy”

Sears been struggling for years and now in a $134 million debt payment due this Monday that they cant afford to pay, If sears be taken down then that’s mean the 68,000 worker going be out without a job. they only got 700 stores left and Sears said by the end of 2019 142 of the 700 stores going to be closed 46 stores going be closes by next month.

Significance- I chose that article, because a lot of people grew up going to that store and its going be a sad time that’s its getting taken down.

One Question- How many months It take for all 700 stores to be taken down
